People wait to the last minute in thinking about retirement and what they want to do when that time comes. Well I have until I have 28 years until I do that, but here are some things I would like to do in no particular order.
1. I want to be there for my family and loved ones. You don't know how long you will have them; so, I want to spend as much time with them as possible. Just talking on the phone, a short visit or lunch would make the world to me. I know I should be doing that now, but I become too busy and forget to make that time happen.
2. Volunteer at the hospitals. It would be noble to help people in their times of trouble.
3. I would like to give communion to the homebound. With my Catholic faith I would want to share it with others especially with those who can't come to church because of health issues. When my grandmother was sick, this was such a comfort when others brought her communion.
4. Continue being free with the outdoors by being in my garden and keeping active with walking or other exercise.
5. Go to mass more than once a week now that I would have the time to do so.
6. Take more photos so I would have mementos to give my ancestors
7. Start downsizing my clutter.
8. People travel when they retire, but to me that is not a priority. I will continue travelling throughout my life. I figure I might become too sick when I get up in age and trips may not be possible; so, I want to do it now.
9. Ministry to the prisons.
10. Read more.
Okay, these are a splattering on what I want to do when I retire. I will add more once I think of more things.
Have any of you thought on what you would like to do when the big R day comes?
