Cataloging

Even though I am not a cataloger I do have to catalog the DVDs that come into the library after they have been purchased. Who would guess of how much time goes into preparing them for the shelves.

We have our DVDs set up like a video store. The original cases are left in the circulating section; while the DVDs themselves are stored behind the Circulation Desk. When processing I have to find a duplicate case for the DVD as well as photocopy the cover.

As of now, we ran out of duplicate cases and I had to ask Phyllis to order me a 100 single and 100 double cases. We're ordering that many since next year there will hardly any money available.

Just another insight of a librarian's daily work.
